Description

One Device for Receipts and Labels

A shop that sells in person and ships by courier ends up with two printers: a receipt printer at the till and a label printer at the packing bench. Each has its own paper, its own driver and its own failure mode, and in a small operation they sit within a metre of each other doing similar work.

The POS-9200 collapses that. It is a 4-inch direct thermal printer that accepts ESC/POS as well as CPCL and TSPL, which means it can print a receipt on continuous roll and a shipping label on die-cut stock from the same mechanism.

Why the Command Set Is What Makes It Dual-Purpose

The dual role is not a hardware feature, it is a firmware one. A printer that only understands TSPL and CPCL is a label printer; a printer that also understands ESC/POS can be driven by ordinary POS software as a receipt printer.

That distinction matters because of what it changes at the till:

  • Standard POS software can drive it. Any application that prints to an ESC/POS receipt printer will print to this unit without a label-specific driver or a bespoke integration.
  • The same device produces the parcel label. Switch the software to TSPL or CPCL and it prints a waybill at 4-inch format, 203 dpi, with native barcodes.
  • One spare parts list. For a small chain, one printer model across till and packing bench means one spare, one set of consumables policy, one thing to train staff on.

The practical catch is paper. A receipt printer wants continuous roll; a label printer wants die-cut stock. Changing between the two is a roll change and a template change, not a hardware change — which is fine for a site that prints a batch of labels in the afternoon and receipts all day. It is not a design for alternating between them every few minutes.

The Specification in Use

203 dpi (8 dots/mm), 160 mm/s, print width 100 mm (800 dots) on paper up to 110 ± 0.5 mm, thickness 0.06–0.30 mm. Media types are continuous paper, label paper, folded paper and tag paper.

Dual media sensors — transmissive and reflective — handle die-cut labels with gaps and black-mark stock, so it is not tied to one label supplier’s format. The print head is rated at 100,000,000 pulses per dot or 50 km, which is the wear figure that decides when the head becomes a consumable; at a typical 150 mm waybill that is well over 300,000 labels.

Native symbologies cover the 1D set — UPC-A/E, EAN-13/8, Code 39, ITF, Codabar, Code 93, Code 128 — plus QR and PDF417. Printing a barcode natively rather than as an image is what keeps the bar widths exact, and exact bar widths are why a code scans every time instead of most of the time.

Logo download is supported, so a branded label or a receipt header can live in printer memory rather than being sent with every job.

Interfaces: USB, LAN, Bluetooth

Three interfaces, with Wi-Fi not offered on this model. In practice that is not a limitation for the use case:

  • USB for a single till or a single packing bench with a PC.
  • LAN for a device shared across a small network — a label printer that both the office PC and the packing station can address.
  • Bluetooth for printing a waybill from a phone, which is how many small sellers operate.

Drivers cover Windows 2003 through 10 and macOS, with iOS and Android through the vendor app. Eleven built-in font sizes are enough for a waybill template and a receipt header without downloading fonts.

Physical, Volume and Environment

180 × 115 × 107 mm at 1.50 kg with accessories, in white. That is a compact desktop footprint — smaller than the bracket-fed unit and slightly heavier than the 0.98 kg model, which is the normal difference between a mechanism with a full housing and one that relies on an external paper stand.

Twelve units per carton at 40 × 37.5 × 40 cm, 18 kg gross. Twelve per carton rather than eight is the volume advantage: for a distributor or an OEM programme, it is one third fewer cartons to handle for the same number of units.

Power is an external DC 24 V / 2.5 A adapter. Mechanical noise is under 60 dB(A). Operating range 0–50 °C at 20–85% RH non-condensing, storage −20 to 60 °C.

Where the POS-9200 Fits

  • Small shops that both sell and ship. Receipts at the till, waybills at the packing bench, one printer model.
  • Sites standardising on one model. One spare, one driver, one consumable policy.
  • Bluetooth printing from a phone. Waybills from a courier app.
  • Distributor orders. Twelve per carton.
  • Not for alternating receipt and label output constantly. It is a roll change, not a mode switch.
  • Not where Wi-Fi is the only connection available. USB, LAN and Bluetooth only.

The 4-Inch Label Range

  • POS-9200 — this unit. Receipts and labels, 12 per carton, 1.50 kg, white.
  • POS-9210 — external bracket for two label stocks, dual-wall frame, 2 kg.
  • POS-9250 — four sensors, 25–100 mm print width, fan-fold and punched-hole support.
  • POS-9220 — 0.98 kg, paper return function, logo download.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it really print receipts as well as labels?

Yes. It accepts ESC/POS alongside CPCL and TSPL, so ordinary POS software can drive it as a receipt printer, with continuous roll loaded.

Do I need to change hardware to switch between them?

No — a roll change and a template change. It is not designed for alternating within minutes, but it is fine for a site that prints labels in batches.

Does it read black-mark labels?

Yes, both transmissive and reflective sensors are fitted.

Is Wi-Fi available?

No. This model offers USB, LAN and Bluetooth.

Does it print barcodes natively?

Yes — the 1D set plus QR and PDF417, generated by the printer rather than sent as an image.

What is the warranty?

12 months minimum, 50 km rated print head. OEM branding and packaging available.
