A 23.8-Inch Wall Kiosk for Places Where People Queue

The DCA-A238 is our large-format wall-mounted self-service terminal. At 23.8 inches it is readable from 1.5–2 metres, which changes what a kiosk can be used for: not just a transaction terminal you walk up to, but a display that people read while standing in a line. The enclosure is a metal shell with a tempered-glass front and a sprayed finish, built to be touched all day and cleaned with commercial products.

Where a Large Wall Kiosk Beats a Freestanding One

• Hospital and clinic registration. Patients check in against a screen they can read without leaning over a counter, and wall mounting keeps the corridor floor clear for wheelchairs and trolleys.
• Bank, telecom and government service halls. The panel is large enough to show a queue number, a service category grid and instructions in one view — three things a 15-inch kiosk has to split across screens.
• Cinema, museum and transport ticketing. Ticket selection benefits directly from screen area: seat maps, showtime grids and route maps are all easier to operate on 23.8 inches.
• Factory and warehouse gates. Attendance, visitor registration and job dispatch at a fixed wall position where a freestanding unit would be a collision hazard with forklifts.

Specification Choices That Actually Affect the Build

Panel size. 23.8 inch is standard; 21.5, 24, 27 and 32-inch FHD panels are available on the same platform. Going above 27 inches changes the mounting requirement, not just the price — plan the wall structure before choosing.

Processor. The A238 is offered with J1900, Core i3, i5 or i7. That range exists for a reason: J1900 for a form-based check-in or ticketing front end; i3/i5 where the kiosk drives video, multiple browser contexts or local processing; i7 for on-device image processing, computer vision or a heavy Windows application. Paying for i7 on a form-based app buys nothing but heat.

Memory and storage. 4/8/16 GB DDR4 and 64 GB to 1 TB SSD or HDD. Keep the OS and application on SSD; use the larger HDD option only if you are storing local media libraries for signage.

Panel characteristics. 1500:1 contrast, 300 cd/m² brightness, 89/89/89/89 viewing angle, 10-point projected capacitive touch, rated for 50,000 hours. The wide viewing angle is the practical advantage of this panel class: an off-axis reader in a queue still sees a legible screen.

Installation

Wall mount is the standard installation. The tempered glass front and metal shell add mass, so the wall fixing must be specified for the loaded weight plus a safety margin — drywall alone is not acceptable for a public installation. Power is a standard mains feed; the built-in antenna means no external Wi-Fi dongle hanging off the unit. Allow rear ventilation clearance, and if the kiosk is in direct sunlight, plan a shade or a higher-brightness panel rather than turning brightness to maximum and shortening panel life.

OEM/ODM

White is standard, with other colours available. Beyond colour and logo, this model is frequently specified with a custom front glass print — a coloured border, a brand band, or a cut-out for a payment terminal — which is a low-tooling way to make a standard platform look purpose-built. Screen size changes, additional module bays and custom enclosures move the project to full ODM.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the A238 run both Windows and Android?

The platform is supplied with either, chosen at order. Windows suits existing desktop applications and peripherals with Windows-only drivers; Android suits web-based and cloud-managed deployments.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

The standard build is for indoor installation. Outdoor deployment needs an IP-rated enclosure, a sunlight-readable panel and thermal management — we quote that as a modified build rather than pretending the standard unit will survive weather.

Does it include a printer or scanner?

The A238 is specified as a display-and-touch terminal; printer and scanner modules are configured per project. If your process needs a printed ticket or a code scan, tell us at specification stage so the module and its cut-outs are included in the build.

What is the warranty and spare-part position?

Warranty terms are stated in the quotation and confirmed in the supply contract. Panels, power boards and touch controllers are available as spares for the product lifecycle, which matters more than the warranty length for a fixed installation that must stay in service.
